Capillary Films...good or bad??
I'm new to screen printing. I've heard a lot about emulsion, but it seems to be that the easiest method of covering a screen is to use Capillary Films. Is there any truth to this? Is the quality good over all. I have seen videos where it looks like the press op is using multiple pieces of film per screen, is that common practice? Forgive the barrage of questions, but I'd appreciate your feedback.

Wow...didn't even see the post made a little while back about this...I just realized my question is different though...soooo, help por favor!

Capillary films can be a great stencil system. Most people choose liquid emulsion though due to cost. In short to medium run work the two systems are quite equal as far a durability goes but on extremely long runs films do not have the durability that liquid emulsions do (if everything is processed equally).urbanerd wrote:Wow...didn't even see the post made a little while back about this...I just realized my question is different though...soooo, help por favor!
I am unsure of your question about the multiple sheets per screen? if you are talking about laminating multiple sheets together to get a thick film stencil then yes this is normal. If you are asking about laying film next to each other to make a larger image not his is not common or recomended.

Thanks Saati! I know I prefer direct liquid emulsions due to their flexibility, cost, and storage requirements.

Nice...I appreciate the input guys. I was actually talking about layering the emulsion sheets for a thicker stencil so thank you for being able to decipher my gibberish.
