Demineralized water or distilled?
I have some Demineralized water and I'm wondering if I can mix this with the activator instead of distilled? I'm using a dual emulsion also?

Re: Demineralized water or distilled?
Interesting question. Well the definition I found is as follows:
"Demineralization: Any process used to remove minerals from water, however, commonly the term is restricted to ion exchange processes."
And.....
"Distilled water is water that has been boiled in an apparatus called a "still" and then re-condensed in a cooling unit ("condenser") to return the water to the liquid state. Distilling is used to purify water. Dissolved contaminants like salts are left behind in the boiling pot as the water vapor rises away."
From: http://www.lenntech.com/applications/pr ... -water.htm
So it appears perhaps yes. I am not a scientist but they appear to be the same purified water product produced by different means. One is old school and the other is more high tech. But again I am not an expert on this.

Thank you for your help
Just in case you wanted to know, I have used the Demineralized water in the emulsion and activator with no problems at all and screens are coming out fine

Ah then there you go. Thanks for sharing that. It did appear to be the same difference.

Just to clarify...Distilled water is not necessary to mix your diazo. Our company stance is if the water is safe to drink (no nasty bacteria) it is safe to use in mixing your diazo. If in doubt bottled water is fine as well.

Yes, I guess I didn't touch on that. I have always used tap water to mix chemicals and emulsions. I never had any issues I know of.... LOL.
