This section is for issues relating to setting up print jobs on automatic, manual rotary or fixed station printing presses. Topics like registration, off contact, micro registration and how to use a manual textile press with the flash cure on multiple color print jobs. Automatic press set up, usage and auto features may also be discussed here.
Yes, of course it is but it’s another one of those press settings that people over look. Of course we need a nice rigid screen with tight screen mesh but without off contact the ink cannot sheer as it should.
Using proper off contact press settings will make your life easier and result in better screen prints. Take the time to use some spray tack along with the off contact even on 1 color jobs and you will see how easy it can be to print the desired amount of ink you want with the least amount of effort. Don’t forget to choose your squeegee correctly too

We have a 6 head RANAR Elite press and I'm having trouble with getting my screens parallel with the palettes. This makes using all 6 heads at once and printing multicolor jobs especially difficult.
- I've noticed that I can get an even off contact on one palette but when I move to the next palette and adjust for the off contact my screen might be sagging and touching the palette on the left corner while the right side has great off contact. This varies from palette to palette.
- Also when setting up for a multi color job; I'll notice that my off contact is not consistent between each head. Say I get the first color's off contact perfect for every palette then go to set up the second color, I find that it's completely different and the off contact knob needs to be adjusted for each palette again. I know that this will mess up the perfect off contact that I've just set for my first color. Does this mean that each head needs to be calibrated? What should I do to fix this?
Did you buy this press from Catspit Productions or Ranar direct?

It could be the press set up or there could possibly be something wrong with the press. If you bought from Ranar direct, then give them a call for technical assistance anytime you like. If you bought it used then you can still call Ranar direct and get some help.
