I have a question on printing on wood (skateboards) with the Nazdar 4700 series ink. I have made some skateboard jigs to fit the concave of the board, but whatever I do, the ink seems to run underneath. I have tried with the screen flat against the wood and with the contact about 1/8.

Any thoughts or ideas? I typically flash the screen then do a run. My first run or two, I thought it was due to the lift motion when pulling off the board.

Perhaps try a higher mesh count.

I did try a Ryonet Black which worked better.

Another question for you. Any idea what type of basecoat they use on skateboard decks? I noticed you have a couple in your videos.

This is for a project, and I was told people use a Nitrocellulose Lacquer, or Water based lacquer. I cannot find anything on that. My other option is to use an automotive paint, but not sure how the silk screen will stick to it.

Unfortunately, I do not know. I never printed skateboards. My forte is textiles. But I did skate at one time in my youthful life

I am doing the same and have the same problem, specifically on the far edges. I believe this is due to the concave and the off contact is, of course, greater as the board drops away from the screen. I believe it is because there is not enough pressure/contact on the screen to the board. I just joined the board to ask some questions about this. I think having a screen of lesser tension will help to allow better contact of the screen to the board.
I think when I am trying to print the image, I dont put enough pressure and the ink gets pushed through the screen and then the pressure comes and smears it under the stencil.

Yes, lower tension may allow you to push the screen down onto the curved surface. But it may be difficult to get a consistent result without a curved screen if you're going end to end.

Again a higher mesh count may help out.

You should try to skip the concave first. If it works better you may know what problem you are facing with the printing. Or you may try to print it to a simple wood piece.
