I finally made some screens this week including one from a YouTube viewer and screen printer named Amal. He lives in Indonesia and offered to do a piece for art for a Catspit print video. He did a really cool piece that has gradation like halftone that looks a lot like stippling. It’s very cool and an easy design to pull off on lower mesh counts. Check him out on Instagram:

Knowing how screen printing works and what replicates well on screen is more than half the battle in making great screen printing artwork. So many people who are graphic designers think they can do screen printing art but that is not at all the case. Graphic artists tend to work with images for print on paper or display online as web graphics. Screen printing artwork is much different and it can make or break you on press. That means the best artists for screen printing art are the screen printers. Here’s a tip. If you need some shirts screen printed, go to the screen printer and let them create the artwork for you. Tell them what you want, pay a nominal fee and get a great looking printed shirt. Or take your art to the screen printer and let them have the creative freedom to modify it to print well on shirts. That way you’ll get the best looking printed garment money can buy. You can also hire artists like Amal to do artwork for you
