Positioning an image on a t-shirt

Post by derekprins »

I need some guidance here. What is the best/normal position for an image on a t-shirt. What I mean is, should it be 4 inches from the neck rib or in the middle of the t-shirt measuring from top to bottom, or what. Please give me some ideas on this. :?:

For a front print, I usually do it "three fingers down" from the bottom of the collar on the shirt (about 3-ish inches). It's worked for me so far. :)

Hi Shamax. That's about what I thought but I wasn't sure. On a golf shirt I use the bottom of the front slip (Where the buttons are) as the top edge of the design. Sounds right? :D

There are variables that should determine your positioning of the print. A standard chest print should be approximately 3" down from the collar seam. The "finger" method will vary depending on the size of your hand. A large print may require you to print the top of the image an inch or less below the collar seam. The size and/or style of the shirt may also come into play. Such as printing on a ladies shirt or a youth size. Then you may want to tweak the position. Again, it depends on the design. Printing on the back of the shirt may require something completely different. But as Andy stated, about 3" down from the collar is pretty standard for most chest prints.
