Welcome to the forums, Manny!

I guess the place to start is to look at your experience/abilities and ask some questions:

Have you ever ran a business before? Do you have any experience in garment decoration, whether it be screen printing, doing heat transfers, using a direct-to-garment printer, etc? Do you have the necessary equipment and resources already? Some more info about you and what you're wanting to accomplish would help gauge where you need to go next.

Wow, that's quite a generalized post. There are so many things to address. The cheapest way to start is probably by starting off with a heat press and either a plotter or contracting out your designs to be printed on transfer paper so you can heat press them yourself. If you're set on screen printing to begin with then you can make your own 1-color press quite easily and cheaply. You would also need either a flash dryer or heat gun to cure the ink. I definitely don't recommend a heat gun though as a proper way to cure.
If your serious about becoming a legit business do not skimp on equipment. You don't have to buy the most expensive equipment just quality equipment. You can always upgrade as business permits.
You need to have the will to succeed and realize it doesn't happen overnight. It's a lot of work but it is fun work. I strongly urge you to network with your target market before you even decorate your first garment. And continue to network even as you succeed.
Don't be afraid. There will be errors along the way but learn from those. Be yourself to customers and potential customers. Fake people don't tend to do well.
I could go on and one but I won't. I started without any experience in business or screen printing. Research, education and finding a good group of supportive people in and outside of the business is crucial. Continual learning is imperative. Joining this forum is a great decision you made. Good luck!

If you're not going to go all the way then why bother going at all.
