Do you need to coat both sides of the screen?
Hello everyone,
I'm back with another question. Do you need to coat both sides of the screen?
I have coated the screen with emulsion on both sides. However, the squeegee side doesn't seem to be hardening, but the print side seems to harden very well. If i increase my exposure time wouldn't i risk overexposing the print side?

Re: Do you need to coat both sides of the screen?
Yes, both sides for optimal results. Do the substrate side first and then the inkwell side. Doing it in this order ensures the emulsion is "pushed" to the substrate side which is where your stencil is created.

If you're not going to go all the way then why bother going at all.

Yes, and coating both sides of the screen will ensure mesh encapsulation which increases emulsion to mesh adhesion.
Meshie, did you want to change your profile name? I kinda liked it

Thanks for the tip on coating the inkwell side last.
I might change my profile name in future and I was curious as to how I would do this?
Does anyone now what is in the emulsion that's makes it harden when its exposed to light?

I think I can change your username. I think.
The emulsions have molecules of compounds that cross link and “cure.” It’s chemistry really so I don’t know all about that but here is an article that you may enjoy about the different liquid emulsions.

I know Boydriver became BoydRiver. So name changes are possible. Unless he just started over.Catspit Productions wrote:I think I can change your username. I think.

I'm glad to know you can change usernames
Thanks for the link Jonathon. I'll take a look.
Actually I've got one more question. Around the edges of the stencil i'm get these bits that won't come off. They're not attached to the screen, but they are attached to the emulsion. Any reason why this might be happening?
