Process of Screen Printing

I was just assigned an assignment to make a step by step process of screen printing in one of my classes that has to be three pages. I would be grateful for any help in that. We are also supposed to design a shirt and press it (the design is finished but the press knowledge is very little). I feel this would be easier if we were told the process of screen printing before we had to write on it. Could anyone help me on this? :?:

Oh man. Here it is in a nutshell for the majority of screen printers (I think):
1. Print artwork onto transparent film from a printer ensuring you can't see light though the black ink
2. Coat the screen with emulsion (thickness of emulsion can vary due to job) in a dark room
3. Let screen dry in uv safe area
4. Tape transparency with artwork to coated screen
5. Expose screen with transparency to uv light for certain time. Being careful to not overexpose or underexpose
6. Washout unexposed emulsion (the emulsion that was protected from uv light by the black ink on transparency) using water
7. Let screen dry
8. Put screen on press and register it in position
9. Run a test print using appropriate ink for the substrate
10. Run production once everything is registered properly.

This is very general but maybe it will lead you to more specific questions that we can answer.

For this you’re going to need to do a little research yourself. ApeShirt laid out a great outline but like he said this will lead you to more specific questions. I would suggest reading the following article and view the related linked videos after each section:

Then I would suggest watching some of my videos from the oldest to the newest. You can pick and choose them based on the titles for sections you need to review in the process. My uploads may be accessed here:

AND here on the website by category:

This video is the first I ever made and uploaded and it covers the process as a summary:

Let us know if you have further specific questions we may answer. Good luck!

Thank you both for your expertise on the matter. I now have a better knowledge of what to do on this project. Keep doing what your doing! Much appreciated! :D
