Transfer on seams

Has anyone done a transfer where the print goes across a seam? I'm wondering if this is a solution to the problems some face while screen printing across seams. I have a job coming up that will entail the image to span across the seam on ladies boy shorts. Thoughts?

I would probably try to print that directly. Sometimes plastisol heat transfers when pressed firmly against raised elements will lose their opacity due to being pushed into the garment too much.

I mean it may work just fine but for me I would try to eliminate an extra step by printing them direct. How bad or raised is the seam?

I can't imagine the seam is raised a lot. I don't have the boy shorts yet but I would think the ladies wouldn't stand for a thick, bulky seam on those.

Yes, perhaps so. I think that would be the case. I guess you'll have to try it out and see how it works.

There is a tool that we use that will allow you to press over seams. It is called a "print perfect pillow". It is basically a piece of foam that is sewn in between 2 Teflon sheets. This raises the print surface area and allows the upper platen to have even pressure across the transfer and substrate surface.

Interesting. Where are those sold? I ended up direct printing the boy shorts. I made a platen and ran a router down the center to recess the seam. Worked good.
