Hi Guys,

Just wondering if there is a writable garment vinyl ?

Ok, I have a costumer that wants to make a speech bubble design on a shirt where kids can write on it and be washable.

I thought may be there is a vinyl that let's do that after heat press on the shirt.

Any recommendation is welcome and if not possible please let me know.

I wasn't able to find anything specifically make for use on textiles, though Imprintables makes dry-erase vinyl that's meant for use on hard, flat surfaces: http://www.imprintables.com/product/dry ... 246,60.htm

Union inks however has a "chalkboard plastisol" that apparently leaves a surface that can be written on and erased with chalk: http://www.imprintables.com/product/dry ... 246,60.htm

The only successes I was able to find of other people talking about similar ideas was folks who said they used regular vinyl with a dry erase pen and it worked to an extent: http://tbiz101forum.com/index.php?topic=1478.0

Not the silver bullet you're looking for, I know, but at least it's a start.

Kevin I have no clue about any vinyl transfers at all, but I wonder if or how did you manage to do that work It sounds interesting indeed!..... see you

I am not aware of any vinyl that will allow this per se.

That said, there is nothing stopping them from signing the vinyl with a sharpie marker. I would suggest pressing a piece of white thermoflex onto a shirt, writing on with with a sharpie, and wash testing it.

Another option...print out your design and have the customer pass it around to be signed with a thick black marker. Scan the image back into your design software and powertrace the raster. This will vector the image and allow you to cut and weed. Once heat pressed, the signatures will take on the color of the substrate. Obviously, this option will make every shirt identical.
