Free Software Or Paid Software

hello everyone, my question is what is better to get Free Vs paid software, I've been told you get what you pay for. The software would be everything to produce artwork for screen printing. I downloaded a couple of free software applications that would enable me to produce some artwork. Gimp & Inkscape!! another question would be what do you use? (photoshop, corel,...Ect) or what do you think is best to use? I've been in the dark when it comes to the artwork part of screen-printing, there are tons of videos about how to screen-print, but just a few about the artwork.

I think I would agree with you. If you are planning on doing any serious screen printing on any regular basis then I would say that buying your vector art software will pay off in the long run. Free software is great but it can be limited or you can find yourself with little support and educational materials.

I personally use Illustrator mostly and sometimes Corel Draw because it has the ability to open older AI files and once in a while I will use Photoshop with a color separating add-on. So a combination of these programs allows me to handle just about anything my customers can throw at me.
