First job with RhinoTech Dry Stencil system!

Post by Leadfoot »

Here are pictures of one of the shirts from my first job done 100% with the RhinoTech Dry Stencil system this past week (pardon the blurriness of the pics, done in a rush on my phone which does not take the best pics-I would usually take it with my pro camera but was pinched for time)...

The job was for a paintball team on white Gildan Ultra Cotton short and long sleeve tees with front and sleeve logo, back print with "don't give a..." and sponsors. Then I did individual screens (dry stencil too) for players' numbers on the long sleeves as pictured.

I was very pleased with the results. The middle logo on the back bottom had such small lettering I was not sure if it would be able to be printed or not but it came out perfect! I would say it had to be 6 point font but was bold which definitely helped. My logo (Leadfoot Shirts) is a thinner font so it was not as successful though still showed up great just needs tweaked for smaller printing.
See attached images.

Overall I say the dry stencil system is awesome and perfect for one color or simple multi jobs. I am looking to experiment with it for a precise two color job this week but also have a simple non layered two color job to do also. It is truly a life saver for home printers like myself with limited space and no dedicated "dark room" for the traditional emulsion coated screens process and who specialize in smaller runs and simpler jobs. Obviously I want to grow to a bigger operation in the future but for now this looks to be a great way to increase my volume by keeping the time it takes to prepare screens to next to nothing! Thanks goes out to Greg and RhinoTech for their help and the great deal on the system. I will do some more detailed info later on but wanted to get this posted up. Will post a pic of the set up and maybe even a step by step video or something, at least pictures.

Very nice post! I love this. The shirts look great and it looks like you put a lot of work into them. Sleeve print and all, eh? Sometimes I have to tweak thin lines in my customer’s artwork for screen printing as well so it’s about the process and having it look good in the end. Now and then we have to adjust the artwork to print correctly. That is pretty normal.

I’d love to see a step by step write up with pictures if you can’t do a video. But this post is great and it will help out a lot of people who are considering this system.

Thanks again for posting and participating in the Catspit learn how to screen print forum!

It was a lot of work but much less with the dry stencil system vs. traditional emulsion screens...best part is that if I have a lot of different names/numbers I can clean screens, dry them and be ready to put the new ones on in just a couple hours or however long it takes the screens to completely dry. I can speed the process up with a fan of course. :)

The only thing I would like to find is a better way to clean off the dry stencil from the screen...with my set up I have to take the pressure washer outside and thus the screens too. I have been able to clean my emulsion coated screens with RhinoTech's ERG8550L in the shower with a good pressure spray from the shower head. It would be ideal if I could do that with the dry stencil as well. I know it goes against the "no chemicals" feature of the system but I would not mind one chemical to make the cleaning process easier. :)

The HRG2400 haze remover works fantastic after the dry stencil is gone and the PWG122 on press wash is excellent with the dry stencil system when I am changing ink colors or just cleaning it off for the screen cleaning process and has a nice odor vs. many others than plain stick or cannot even be used in the house. RhinoTech has a customer for life in me for sure!:) Already got another quart of the press wash this past week!

Nice stuff.
I posted elsewhere on here asking if this film was sold in the UK.
I'm hoping they see it and get back to me.

A really nice write-up! When you're ready, we'd like to help simplify your screen washing system with use of a Washout Booth. How about a UPS-shippable one? check it out at: http://www.rhinotechinc.com/screen-prin ... 20minilite

Keep up the great work!
