Enough with spam already

Is there a way to boot those spamming this board? I've also seen in other forums it is possible to block specific posters. That way we wouldn't have to see their posts, ie spam. Is that an option here? It's a shame some have no consideration.

I have been trying to deal with this issue since the forum launched. These spammers are using very sophisticated techniques to get through and do what they do. I have to delete spam twice a day so it is taking a lot of my time. I am working on it but I do not have all the resources and money some of these spamming agencies have. They use IP addresses that are “bullet proof” because they are outside the US. So I am working on it but for now I have to delete everything. I am sorry if you are getting notices for topics being replied to by spam. I am working to figure out a way to make this better. Please hang in there as I am new to the forum and my tech guy knows about the problem.

Yeah, it is sad people have to waste my time and ultimately even their own even though many use bots. They must know most of their spam is deleted unless they target dead websites which get no traffic anyway. It just doesn’t make any sense. I hope to have a longer run than 8 years but maybe I won’t be doing this all by hand someday

You will be happy to know we are making progress in eliminating spammers. Especially some of the repeat offenders I have tried to stop and kept getting their spam. I have now successfully learned how to correctly and effectively ban emails, IP’s and even user names. This should help minimize spam quantity as they will be eliminated on the first offense.

The way I was doing it previously for some reason was not doing what I thought it would do. Therefore we had a few repeat offenders. The anti-spam bot counter measures have also been changed. New users will now have to answer a question to register. We hope it is sophisticated enough to deter spam bots but easy enough not to prevent real people from signing up.
