Making the Image Dark Enough for the screen

Total rookie question. I have tried to do my research and read and I have decided the set-up to have is likely an Epson with AccuRip or some similiar alternative...That being said I am trying to limp through the end of the year and get a little return on the investment of the equipment I have so far. I have printed several shirts and my problem I believe is the opaqueness of the positive. I have read to double them up and use two positives per screen, my question is any particular ink for a Brother printer that is darker than another to make my "garage boy technique" any easier? Not that I know of but you can use a water proof inkjet film and run a color rich black:
