Registration nightmare

Post by farry1988 »

I own 4 station 6 colour carousels with no micro http://www.customcarousels.co.uk/COMMER ... INTING.htm Weve been printing 3-4 colour designs on light and dark garments, we have always used a white stroke on the dark garments but now we're coming to printing stuff that requires a white underbase. We have reduced the white under base by 1 pixel and we can not get it to register no matter what we try, i can get it with in 1/2mm and thats it! Ive tried the rubber hammer but no matter how much pressure i used it knocks it either too much or too little. Also tried bringing the arm down, undoing the clamps and adjusting that way but again either too far or too little. When youre starting to register on the carousel do you knock all off contact off and lower the ''gateway bolt'' (that holds the arm in place) so the screen sits flat to the board? Have you got anyother tips how to register? Any help would be much appreciated! Somebody told me that this carousel wouldnt hold tight enough registration for the design we're wanting to print, could this be true?

ps all new screens/squeegees using a pull flood, push stroke.

regards

Well without micro registration it can be a bear. This video should help out a lot with trouble shooting but if it’s a matter of not being able to register in the first place then it’s because you have no micro registration.

These videos could help too:

The press you linked to looks pretty light weight so whether or not it can hold fine registration only you will know. It is very possible that the press cannot hold the registration you need.

If you can register it and it is coming out of registration again the videos could help or it could be the press build or it could be other factors. I could not tell from here.

Your off contact should be set when you register the screens. I always put my screens in the clamp and adjust the heads so they are all the same. Then I can go back and do the set up using those heads.

Unfortunately I have no tips for registering a screen without micro registration. But watch the 3 videos above and I encourage you to watch all of my videos.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply, yes i think ive watched all of your videos haha the carousel seems to hold tight reg once its locked in, its just getting it to register in the first place that is the nightmare, heres a pic of the design im printing

Image

as you can see the blue is out, i cant seem to adjust the screen to get it to line up, i either knock it too far or not enough and this process can go on for hours haha Ive also tried pulling the white but that then knocks the orange out.

It looks like you could just reverse the stroke on the blue and it should be fine. It looks like it is only slightly out of reg. If your pulling the blue, push stroke it. If you're pushing the blue then pull stroke it. And leave all the other colors on the same stroke.

I would try that instead of re-registering.
