Tape not sticking to screens/emulsion.

Post by woodenshirts »

Hello, I am having a problem where the screen tape is not sticking very well to my screens. I have tried a variety of types and all but masking tape (I'd prefer not to use this for cleanup reasons) move around on me or peal off.
I use degreaser when cleaning the screens (iit's mostly not sticking to the emulsion though, which I don't think that would matter since it's not directly where the degreaser goes anyway).
It was suggested by a manufacturer that it might be a humidity problem, I have been running a dehumidifier and it's not pulling mcuh from the air, so it's pretty dry in the shop.
I have also made sure that the screens were completely dry (as was also a proposed issue from the manufacturer).

Does anyone have any other suggestions to try?

That sure is odd. I have never experienced that. I use masking tape and I do not really have any cleanup issues. But many people prefer screen tape. Maybe you should try a different brand of screen tape. Most decent screen tapes should stick to emulsion and/or bare mesh.
