Okay I moved this topic into the mesh section. Basically form what little detail you have given us about your printing goals I would say mesh like 110, 130, 160, 195 or 200 would do well for general purpose screen printing with little to some detail.

The video Pepe suggested is perfect.

Thanks for the great referral Pepe! I appreciate the support.

is it ok to use a high count mesh like 200 with simple design like big letters? or will that mess something up

Not at all, you can use a higher mesh count if you like. But it will be a little more difficult to print plastisol inks through higher mesh counts.

So the question is what are we printing with what ink? If it’s dark garments with plastisol inks you’ll want more open mesh counts for ease of printing. For plastisol inks and higher detail including halftones you would want a higher mesh count.

Water based inks may print on higher mesh counts in general because they tend to be much thinner than plastisol and print almost too easily through lower mesh counts.

But these are generalities. The point is you can use a higher mesh count but it may affect your ability to achieve opacity depending on certain factors some of which I mentioned above.
