Let talk lights...

This is the place to talk about what it takes to get started. This would include what equipment to buy, space requirements, electrical needs and anything related to getting ready to begin screen printing. Have a question regarding what it takes to screen print tee shirts? Please post them here...

My first question is in reference to exposure lamps, I got all excited at the utube how to vids (Thanks Jonathan, those are like AWESOME!!), and bought a light, (an Olite al53) and now no idea, of anything. how to set it up, accessories nothing ,5K of single point light seems quite intense, and possibly dangerous, So Please, Please somebody clue me in.

You're very welcome, thanks for watching and using the forum.

That is a very intense projection bulb for large format graphic industrial printing. You may be able to use it but you will need a vacuum table that swings into the beam of the unit however it is configured. Normally it is placed about 8 feet away and projected onto a vacuum table with glass that swings vertical.

So you're going to need to figure out how you want to use it. Most people use a vacuum frame.

What you have is killer but a bit over kill for a beginner.

That's the light, however mine has chain on the lamp part like it was ment to hang from the ceiling. That's a really cool vacuum table, (I may have to borrow the design) I also have welders for making some equipment,(wire feed and gas). Although "T"s are not my primary goal, it seems like a good place to start, and of course buy what supplies I can from....Catspitt productions!!!, So I do the ad/pose thing (I'm such a dork) ....Anyway Olite seems to be a defunct company and consequently I cant find a manual, recommended bulbs , safety precautions, or some kind of option package to operate this thing from another room (at least get it to spark.), its like it never existed ( ideas anyone?).

You could check with Douthitt. They may be able to help with accessories for that unit.
