Hello Catspit Forums!

This is the place to talk about what it takes to get started. This would include what equipment to buy, space requirements, electrical needs and anything related to getting ready to begin screen printing. Have a question regarding what it takes to screen print tee shirts? Please post them here...

Hello Catspit Forums!

First of all I'm new the the forums and I just want to say thank you to Jonathan for what you have created here! The amount of help/info that you are providing is greatly appreciated!

So a little about myself. I'm currently 35 and for most of my life I've worked retail/customer service jobs. Boooring. So two years ago, after talking about it for several months, my girlfriend and I made the crazy decision to quit our jobs and move to Key West, Florida. We wanted to do something crazy and try something new and boy did we find it.

Shortly after moving here I took a job doing something i swore i would never do: waiting tables. This was supposed to be a job to pay the bill while we got settled and I found what i really wanted to be when i grew up. However, the money was good and I got comfortable and never really tried to look for a "real job". Well, a couple months ago I started feeling a little burned out and my girl got me motivated again and I started job hunting around town. One day as i was biking around the island I happened to pass by a screenprinting place and on a whim i stopped and went in. I talked to the owner and she basically hired me on the spot even though I had zero experience and had never even set foot in a screenprint shop in my life. (there are a lot of nutty people in Key West!) Needless to say I was excited/scared/happy/nervous. I immediately started searching online for any and all info/help I could find and that's how I came across Catspit and Jonathans youtube videos.

Well, I started the new job 4 weeks ago and things are going good so far but I'm having some challenges as well. I know I have a long way to go before I feel confident in what I'm doing. So I'm hoping to find as much help and support here in the forums as I'm getting from the videos! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

That’s great! I’m very happy to be able to help you through my videos and website’s. I love to teach screenprinting so this story is wonderful to hear. If you ever get a chance you should make a testimonial video at the shop you’re working in. I allow a free plug in the testimonial so you can get your shop a little internet exposure and help Catspit at the same time. There is not due date and you can do it anytime.
