Hand cut paper stencils

Post by Angelus »

Hi, guys.
I'm a painter working with spray paint in murals and acrylics on canvas/paper. Lately I'm trying to transfer some of my stencils to paper and saw Jonathan's video "How To Screen Print T Shirts Using Hand Cut Paper Stencils" and thought of using his technique for this.
Couple of questions:
1- It's a blank screen(without emulsion) that he used with the paper stencil?
2- Can I print a full color background with a blank screen?
3- It's possible to use Speedball Block Printing Ink for screens without clogging the mesh?

Thanks, guys and I hope to share some of the work done via screenprinting later!

I’ll try to help.

1) Yes, the screen is brand new with mesh only. Nothing has been done to the screen. Only a piece of paper and masking tape are used to make the print.

2) Yes, you can print wide open mesh to create a solid colored background.

3) You should be able to. I would contact them for tips and technical assistance with their inks. I have not printed with them much. But you should be able to print with them.

Thanks for signing up for the forum. I look forward to seeing some of your work. Take it to the next level, good luck!
