Old Ranar Rotary Press
Several years ago I purchased an old Ranar Rotary press a 6 color 2 station. I do NOT know how old the machine is. When I acquired it, the press had not been used for sometime by all the dust and grime that was on the press. It was not an easy job cleaning and lubricating the machine. It is operating well for me, however I would like to upgrade. I believe it is a Ranar Vista Rotary press. I am not absolutely positive. I have viewed your videos, I understand that if it is a Vista press it can be upgraded. Is this true no matter how old the press is? I would like to upgrade it to make it like the one you are currently using (6 - 6 press with metal platens). Is this possible? The press I own may be over 20 years old.
Re: Old Ranar Rotary Press
Just got back home from working a show. I can not find anything that states the maker of the press. The center is the same as your videos with the center being a single post. I would like to upgrade this press. Currently the press has two stationary stations 180 degrees from each other. I would like to convert it to a carousel with at least four stations; would prefer six. Do not know how to determine whether this is possible without going to the Ranar facility. The color of the machine is a dull black. I know it is over 10 years old because I purchased it from a old silk screen business owner who retired back in 2004. It was old then.
By the way, your videos have taught me a great deal about how to silk screen. I taught myself which is not a good idea. I have many bad habits. I am working at changing my habits to mimic practices I have seen you use when using your press.
Any help would be appreciated.

You may want to give Ranar a call at 1-800-421-9910 and see if someone there might know more about the the upgradability of your particular unit

Thank you. I did earlier today. Have not heard back. Even if I can't upgrade this press I am going to keep it. It is built like a take. It is nearly indestructible. I hope I can upgrade it. The new ones are expensive especially when you compare what I paid for it years ago.

Hey there,
If the press is too old it will not be upgradeable. They won’t be ready to fit very old parts. If you can post a photo of the press here I’ll ask RANAR to look at it.

Re: Old Ranar Rotary Press
I was given a return call from a Ranar rep' what I described was a machine that the salesman believed built early in Ranar's beginning years & was NOT upgradeable. I will keep it. I will be buying another press. My daughters assist in our business's production needs so this machine will be utilized for lower production requirements. We produce all of our printing from our basement which saves on rent. Actually, the rent savings are greater than our house payment. You could say, promotional product printing pays our house payment making everything above that "profit". Thank you for your help and assistance.
Like your new website. Keep up the good work. You have taught me quite a bit. I have many bad habits. I am finding it is difficult to retrain eliminating inefficient actions with proper techniques. I wish there had been someone around as you are today when I started screen printing. I learned to print by making one mistake after another. You are saving people a lot of time and money. Keep up the good work.
