Trick to match up transparency

Post by Meatsack »

Ok doing halftones at home on a inkjet printer black and white. I want to do a large image but obviously my films only go 8.5 by 11. Sooo....is it even possible to match up 4 films to make 1 solid picture without overlapping and making line's or darker sections where the films overlap? If it's possible how do I make it happen. No matter what I do I can't get all the dots to match up perfectly. Any suggestions? Or is this beyond at home capability?

That would probably be very difficult at the least or near impossible with a halftone dot pattern. Sometimes you can tile and line up other types of art but with a halftone it may be a problematic proposition. Unfortunately, you'll likely need to print that on one piece of film.

Ok thanks. I kinda figured it would be impossible just figured I'd see if the experts had any tricks or ideas. My mind ran out of ideas. I was thinking about having it made on a bigger sheet but the image is technically not mine and it is just for 1 shirt for me. Any ideas on how or where I could get that printed off? I know most places have copyright agreements and such but like I said this isn't for sale just a cool image I wanted to try for myself

You're very welcome. I'm not sure where to get that printed for you however. If it's a major copy right issue then it may be difficult to get a commercial printer to make a film positive for you since you then could use that to print more than 1 item.
