Sublimation gallery

I recently started doing sublimation. I see potential here as a huge add-on to screen printing. Here's a couple things I've done so far.

Re: HELP-red ink

Glad to help. It's amazing how many times it's the simplest things that need correction. I guess that's my simple mind  Many of us tend to over-think things. I do it myself sometimes. I enjoy reading all the tips from everyone. It's good to know many possibilities for circumstances. Never know ...

Re: Printing with Stretch Additive

I'm with Drew on this. That doesn't make sense to me either. Plus, 25% seems like a too high percentage to mix. I've used stretch additive and add around 10%. I would think 25% would tint the color too much.

Re: to white under base or not to?

If they are opaque inks from Ryonet I believe they will say Ryopaque. The 'C' stands for coated. Coated colors in the pms family have a little sheen to them. You definitely need an under base. Looking at that particular design in the middle, which I assume is the one you are using, it'll require one...

Re: to white under base or not to?

Generally speaking, a white under base will make the other colors more vibrant on the black garment. If you didn't get high opacity pms inks then you must have an under base. If you do have HO inks then you should be ok. I know HO blues show pretty well on black.

Re: HELP-red ink

Is the backside of your screen clean? Take some tape and stick it on the image area on the substrate side of the screen. When you lift it away it'll pull any ink off the screen. Or try wiping the screen off.

Re: Need software advise

I have CorelDRAW X5 and AccuRIP. I'm hoping to upgrade to X7 if I hear enough good things about it. The videos I've seen show some nice new features. I have the Epson 1400 as well. I think there really isn't a functional difference from 1400 to 1430. 1430 is just the new model I believe.

Re: HELP-red ink

It may seem crazy to ask but do you have enough spray tack down? Could the shirt be rolling on you?

Re: 2 color logo

Personally, I would do all white and then the green on top. It's definitely necessary if you are not using HO inks. Plus, it may make it easier to register.

Re: Curing plastisol ink

Some like to say you must reach 320 for one minute. I believe that is overkill. My dwell time at 325-360 is about 15-20 seconds and have never had a print washout. Keep in mind that the more ink you have layered, the longer dwell time in order to ensure the bottom coat is cured. Just because the tem...
