TOUR SHIRT WALKTHROUGH - Part 1 - Introduction

Hello everyone! Jonathan asked me to talk a bit about my process and how I've learned so much so quickly. I wanted to give a bit of an introduction about myself so you can understand where I am starting from. I mainly play music in a band. Merchandise is a huge part of our income, so I've been famil...

Re: Tape Residue

Jonathan, Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the same tour starts back up on the 8th and our last stop is in Phoenix. I planned on contacting you a few days prior. I understood the process pretty well before I got the equipment, now I'm just learning ways to be more efficient and better at it. I'd be g...

Tape Residue

Hello everyone. I've been on the road, and I apologize for my absence from the forum. Anyway, here's what I'd like to discuss. I did a 6 color print job for my band right before we left on the tour. With doing tour shirts that are dated, it's a big guessing game. You don't want to do too many and be ...

Re: Halftone Expose / Wash Out

So. I'm using the saati textile pv emulsion. I did a 1/1 coat on a 160 mesh screen. I have an image with halftones set at 45 lpi. I tried burning the screen for 30 seconds to start. Most of it looks really good, but a section of it wouldn't wash out. After probably too long, I finally blew out the s...

Halftone Expose / Wash Out

I'm preparing to *try to do a 4 color design on a dark shirt with a white underbase. The design will have half tones on every colored printer. I will be using 230 mesh screens and coating them 1/1. Just wanted to ask advice on exposure times and tips on washing it out. I've heard that when doing hal...

Designs with 4+ Colors

Hey all. While daydreaming about printing, I came across a topic that I thought I would bring up to everyone. To put it simply, if you were asked to do a print with 5, 6, or up to 10 colors, depending on the size of your press, what would make you want to print that design using 6 spot colors, inste...

Re: Color Separations Using Photoshop

I'm just getting started in doing halftones myself, but as far as I know I don't think LPI will matter much because 110 is pretty open for even trying halftones. I personally wouldn't try halftones on anything lower than a 230 mesh. It may work on a 160 or something, but I think the dots would have ...

That's kind of my cue for when I know I'm doing it right. Thanks!!

Re: Scoop Coater Techniques

firm pressure, That was the ticket. I tried that one a whim today and they came out great. At first I was worried it would stretch the mesh or push it through too much, but with a bit more pressure than I was using before, they were even and coated just like they should be. Thanks so much for the t...

Scoop Coater Techniques

Hey guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with getting a nice even coat with my scoop coater. I'm wondering if you have any more tips other than the catspit videos on coating to offer? I'm getting it on way too thick sometimes, and thicker on one side than the other. Most of my issues arise from it bein...
