Usually 20x24 manual screens will be at about 18 to 20 Newtons tension. So based on your question about skate boards I would say you're not really going to be able to get a screen down to the lower tensions you may be looking for in order to conform to a skate board deck. Yes, lower tension may allow you to push the screen down onto the curved surface. But it may be difficult to get a consistent result without a curved screen if you're going end to end.

Again a higher mesh count may help out.
