Re: Picking a printer
I can also vouch for the Epson WF-7520. I got mine for just under $200 new, and it does great 13x19 transparencies!

Re: My screen printing hardware
You're pretty much set for equipment. The only thing I'd recommend on top of what you have is a pressure washer for washout and reclaiming (and a washout booth/bin?) and possibly a conveyor dryer. What you have will get you going though, and you'll learn pretty quick what the biggest bang-for-your-b...

Re: emulsion problem
"Back-flooding" - refers to the practice of lifting your screen and gently dragging ink across the "open" ares of your stencil. It's especially important with water-based inks. Since water-based inks begin to tack-up/dry fairly quick, if you don't back-flood, you risk having ink ...

Re: Trying to silkscreen on glass.
You'll need a specialty ink for printing onto glass. I'd suggest checking out the tech sheets on some of the inks out there, starting with some of the ones available from Nazdar to get an idea of what's needed: Nazdar's Glass-compatible inks The ink you get will probably require you to use an emulsi...

Re: emulsion thickness
I personally do 1 coat on each side using the thicker, more rounded edge of my scoop coater for almost all of my screens. If you're needing a thicker ink deposit for more opacity, you might want to do 2 on the substrate side and 1 on the inkwell side.

Re: white plastisol ink
I guess it depends on just how opaque or how thick of an ink deposit you're aiming for. This past week I printed some canvas patches with the plastisol white that Jonathan sells in the Catspit store through a 230 mesh by just doing a double-hit (no flash in between) and got great coverage! Perhaps y...

Re: Supply shop request(s)
Awesome! Looking forward to the addition of the scrubby pads, and I'll have to pick up some of that graphic PU emulsion once I get closer to time for some LP jacket printing tasks. Does Saati offer those in quart sizes as well, or just gallons?

Re: emulsion problem
Welcome to the forums! I'll second what Saati said. with practice, you'll get a rhythm and feel for how much emulsion you're putting on the screen. Also, if you look at your scoop coater, one edge of it should be fairly sharp and narrow while the other is slightly thicker and more rounded....

Re: Supply shop request(s)
I can add almost any Saati product but stocking is an issue with items like emulsion that have a shelf life. I think what I can do is have some of the Saati product be picked up as ordered in Gardena. But that would delay the shipping of those special items until they come in. I can note that in th...

Re: Choosing the correct printer
I use the Epson Workforce 7520 to print all of my films. I got it for under $200 from an office supply store, and it can print 13"x19", has two paper trays, is wireless, and can scan up to 11x17. Love it!
